Ward, Stephen 1913-63
English painter and osteopath
He was a London osteopath who was at the centre of the Profumo scandal in 1963. He introduced Christine Keeler to John Profumo and provided information that disproved Profumo's denial of involvement made in the House of Commons. He became the establishment scapegoat for the whole affair and was tried on charges of living on immoral earnings. He committed suicide before a verdict was reached. He was also an accomplished painter and included members of the royal family among his subjects.
